The Lancaster Community Library facility has been closed since March 16 when a State of Emergency was declared by the governor of Virginia. At that time the lending and receiving of library books and materials ceased in an abundance of caution and to minimize contamination.
The Commonwealth of Virginia is now in Phase 1 of reopening. Library patrons may return all library materials to the book drop starting on Monday, May 18. As the facility continues to be closed, no fines will accrue at this time. Appropriate sanitization and quarantine protocols are being put into place.
“We anticipate that curbside delivery of library books and materials will commence by the end of May or beginning of June, assuming that the rates of coronavirus infections continue to decline,” said Director Alice Cooper.
