Campgrounds will open March 3 at Virginia Parks

Virginia State Parks campgrounds will open on Friday, March 3.

Full-service campgrounds with bathhouses are open from the first Friday in March through the first Monday in December, including Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster County and Westmoreland State Park in Westmoreland County.

Exceptions are Douthat, Hungry Mother, Pocahontas and Shenandoah River state parks, which have full-service campgrounds open year-round, reported public relations and marketing specialist Kim Wells.

Due to a campground renovation project, camping at Claytor Lake State Park will not open until April 1, said Wells.
