Over 300 art lovers and supporters, many decked out in art-inspired attire, celebrated the RAL Art Center’s 75 years of “Bringing Art to the Community and the Community to the Arts” on Saturday, September 21.
The Be Part of the Art gala, “two years in the making” according to RAL board of directors president Doug Mock, was held at The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck in Kilmarnock and featured interactive art exhibits, live painting and a real wishing tree.
“This tree was cut in half, hollowed out and reassembled here,” Mock said. A very helpful green giant (stilt walker John Wolfson in costume) hung gold stars containing the wishes of those in attendance.
