KILMARNOCK—Shirley Myrtle Spalding Campbell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on Friday, September 27. She celebrated her 102nd birthday this past August 15.
Born in Goondiwindi, Queensland, Australia, she met her soulmate and future husband, Elden, while volunteering for the 503rd Airborne Regiment during World War II in Australia.
Married in Sydney and migrating to the United States, in her 30-year career as a military spouse, she moved 27 times stateside and abroad while doing extensive volunteer work. She has called the Northern Neck home for almost 25 years now.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol; son, John; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Mark); and great granddaughter, Cassidy.
A genuinely good, kind soul who looked for, and more often than not, found the best in everyone that she met. She will be deeply missed.
