LANCASTER—The jury trial of Matthew S. Chapman of White Stone, charged with both the first and second degree murder of John Carter Gordon, has been rescheduled to take place October 21-23 in Lancaster County Circuit Court. The trial was originally scheduled for September 30-October 2.
Gordon died as a result of a gunshot wound in March.
Chapmen also is charged with two other felonies including one count for the use of a firearm to commit a felony and one for shooting or stabbing while committing a felony. These charges also will be considered by the jury next month.
A status hearing on the case is scheduled for October 9. According to Lancaster County Circuit Clerk of the Court Diane Mumford, this hearing is an opportunity for the court to determine whether a jury trial is still able to take place on the date that it is set to begin.
