Chesapeake Bank pledges $100,000 to hospital emergency department project

KILMARNOCK—Chesapeake Bank, a Kilmarnock-based community bank with locations in several regions throughout Virginia, has pledged $100,000 toward building a new emergency department at Bon Secours Rappahannock General Hospital (RGH) in Kilmarnock.

The new emergency department will increase access to quality health care for all residents of the predominately rural Northern Neck region and will have a profound impact on vulnerable elderly populations. A report from the Pew Institute Research Center, based on 2014 Census data, revealed that Lancaster County and Northumberland County were the fifth and eighth most elderly populated counties in the U.S., respectively.
