You may have noticed that your favorite place for breakfast sandwiches and doughnuts in the Virginia’s River Realm closed early last Sunday. That is because children from all over the Northern Neck gathered at their favorite spot on Sunday afternoon to participate in Chesapeake Doughnut Company’s first ever Children’s Workshop.
The workshop started with a demonstration by Gregory Dixon on how to make the very doughnuts the kids would be decorating that afternoon—the same doughnuts that have made Chesapeake Doughnut Company a must-visit spot on any local itinerary.
Mr. Dixon broke 20 eggs, one handed, into a pitcher, then he added some milk, some vanilla and his secret ingredient, all the while explaining the science, precision and hard work behind his doughnuts.
Mr. Dixon shared that he wakes up at one in the morning to make his delightful confections for the day. He typically makes about 400-500 doughnuts a day, but that jumps to 1,000 in the middle of the summer…
