
KILMARNOCK—Christopher James Maxwell Taylor, 83, of Kilmarnock went to meet his Saviour face-to-face on June 5, 2023. He passed peacefully at home with family by his side.
Christopher was a citizen of the U.K. and hailed from Glasgow, Scotland. He came to the U.S. as a 25-year-old physical therapist to his new job in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he met his first wife and fathered three children before moving to the Cleveland, Ohio, area.
In 1984, he married his second wife, Laurel, and moved to Virginia with his two stepchildren. Married 38 years, Christopher and Laurel enjoyed sailing on Lake Erie, and on the Rappahannock and the Chesapeake Bay. Christopher was one of the original founders of the Kilmarnock & District Pipe Band and was active for many years.
Christopher leaves behind his wife, Laurel; sister, Isabelle Taylor of Scotland; daughters, Alison Taylor of Cleveland; Sarah Taylor of Cleveland; Jessica Harrison and her husband, Jeremy, of Portland, Ore.; and sons, Ian Taylor and his wife, Becky, of Cincinnati and Scott Waner and his wife, Lisa of Washougal, Wash.; and grandchildren, Maxwell Masarik and Rory Taylor of Cleveland; Justin and Nick Waner of Washougal; Lane Hayden of Eugene, Ore., and Ryder and Kaela Fearing of Portland.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 14, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. The memorial service will follow immediately at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. John Farmer of Irvington Baptist Church.
