Coast Guard reverses decision regarding Station Milford Haven

GWYNN’S ISLAND—Rep. Rob Wittman on Monday, October 4, announced the U.S. Coast Guard will continue to operate Coast Guard Station Milford Haven year-round, reversing a previous decision.

The Coast Guard previously had planned to suspend operations at Station Milford Haven during the “off-season” winter months. The Coast Guard reversal follows months of input by the community, local governments and Rep. Wittman, who hosted a public hearing in Mathews County, requesting the Coast Guard to extend the public comment period.

According to a related press release, Rep. Wittman also encouraged his constituents to express their thoughts to the Coast Guard and he spoke with both Rear Admiral M.W. Raymond and Commandant of the Coast Guard Admiral Karl Schultz.
