Commodore’s Cup Regatta closes RRYC season

On a cool and breezy Saturday, 11 boats went out October 17 to race in the Rappahannock River Yacht Club’s Commodore’s Cup, the final event of the 2020 racing season on the Rappahannock River.

“It was good to see many new racers on the course in addition to the regular racing crews,” said Performance Handicap Racing Fleet fleet commander Glenn Solt.

Principal race officer Jerry Latell set up three windward-leeward races varying from 2-3.6 nautical miles in the breezy, 12-20 knot NNW winds with wind shifts of up to 40 degrees challenging the racer’s tactics and strategy, reported Tom Chapman.
