Donald O. Conaway, CST/CSFA, recently announced his retirement after almost 45 years at Bon Secours Rappahannock General Hospital (RGH) in Kilmarnock.
Conaway began his career at RGH in October 1976, five months before the hospital was officially open. He was hired to work in the materials management department and spent those first few months setting up equipment throughout the facility. Conaway was a participant in the ribbon cutting ceremony when the hospital opened in March 1977.
Conaway spent five years in the materials management department before moving into the surgical services unit as an operating room tech. In the operating room is where Conaway has remained for the past 40 years of his career, advancing through further education, achieving certifications and excelling in his field. Conaway retires as a surgical technologist in the RGH surgical services department.
