COVID-19 outbreak confirmed at Haynesville Correctional Center

HAYNESVILLE—The Virginia Department of Corrections is reporting that 47 inmates and one staff member have contracted COVID-19 at the Haynesville Correctional Center.

Three Rivers Health District director Dr. Richard Williams, MD, MPH, confirmed the outbreak. “We’ve tested everybody in the infected building,” he said, but emphasized that even with testing, “you’re just seeing a point in time.”

The outbreak has not affected the nearby Haynesville Correctional Unit #17.
