David Alberts

KILMARNOCK—David Alberts, 85, passed on to eternal life on February 5, 2022, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease and vascular dementia.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jacquelyn Rose Alberts; his infant son, Justin Kenneth; his cousin, Kit Sharp; and his parents, Lawrence and Elvira Alberts. 

 Dave was born in Minneapolis, Minn., and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in urban planning. His life work in city planning began in Minneapolis then took him to Sioux Falls, S.D., and lastly Arlington.

Dave and his wife Jackie fostered many children during their years in Minneapolis and Sioux Falls. He also proudly assisted in the founding of the U.S. Green Building Council. In his later years, he served on numerous community-building projects, including the Lancaster Community Library.

He is survived in life by his sister, Carol Alberts of Minnetonka, Minn.; and his children, Thomas Alberts (Jackie Gorski), Tedd Alberts (Betsy Alberts) and Kathryn Alberts-Hendren; his four grandchildren, Ashley-Rose Alberts, Kaaleb Hendren, Moses Hendren and Angelo Hendren Jr.; and one great-grandchild, Machi Hendren. Also mourning his loss are his devoted partner of 14 years, Marilyn Warren; dear sister-in-law, Dana Siskind; Kandy Regan, who was like a daughter to him; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dave was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Kilmarnock and later Stone House Presbyterian Church in Toano.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held later in the spring.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lancaster Community Library, P.O. Box 850, Kilmarnock, VA 22482.
