WEEMS—David Coleman Staley passed away suddenly at his home in Weems on May 30, 2026. He was 66.
David was a 1977 graduate of Towson High School in Towson, Maryland, where he was raised. While in high school he participated enthusiastically in numerous music and drama activities. He attended Catholic University and New York University.
David lived in New York from 1977 until 2009 where he maintained his own floral business from 1990 until 2007. While in New York, he appeared in several shows for the Gilbert & Sullivan Players with whom he also toured nationally. David was especially proud of having appeared in the first American production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”
In addition to his work on stage, David enjoyed fishing—especially deep-sea fishing—and gardening. He traveled extensively throughout Europe as well as in parts of Asia and Africa.
He is survived by his brother, Donald Staley; his sister-in-law, Lorie Staley; his aunt, Betty Davis of Weems; and two nieces, Kristen Staley and Rachel Brent of Michigan and Maryland, respectively.
David was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Del Staley, who also lived in Weems.
A private interment will be carried out in Christ Church Cemetery. Final arrangements are being handled by Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock.
Services for David will be held at 11 a.m. July 11 in Fellowship Hall at Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church in Weems.
