IRVINGTON—Deborah “Debbie” Emerson Turenne, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Irvington on September 21, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family.
Born in Newton, Massachusetts, on January 23, 1941, Debbie was known throughout her life for her infectious smile and generous heart. Her life was defined by grace, devotion and a quiet strength that anchored her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Debbie is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Bill; their daughters, Michelle Turenne and Betsy Haworth; their son, Bill Turenne Jr.; and her loving caregiver, Mae Eden Colobong. She will also be forever cherished by a wide circle of extended family and friends who carry her legacy of love forward.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 1, at Wicomico Parish Church, with a reception to follow at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, in the hope that someday this terrible disease will no longer steal our able-bodied loved ones from us.
