IRVINGTON—Gabe del Rio, a business owner and civic leader, has announced his candidacy for mayor of Irvington in the special election scheduled for November 2.
He’s been openly engaged in the effort upon the departure of the former mayor and the request of neighbors and business owners. The native Virginian grew up in Irvington and is a graduate of Lancaster High School and James Madison University.
Following his graduation from JMU, del Rio moved to California to begin a career in a variety of leadership roles for nonprofit organizations, often in concert with local governments. He was later among 50 emerging leaders selected….
