Diane Mumford announces bid for reelection as Clerk of the Circuit Court for Lancaster County

Lancaster County Circuit Court Clerk Diane Mumford has declared her candidacy for reelection in the November 2023 election.

Mumford was elected Clerk in November 2007 and had previously served in the office as a deputy clerk for 22 years.

The Clerk handles administrative matters and has authority to probate wills, grant administration of estates and issue marriage licenses. The Clerk also is the custodian of the court records and the recorder of land records and judgments.

Mumford began working in the Clerk’s Office in 1985 and since that time has learned all facets of the office. She has an associate’s in computerized data management from Rappahannock Community College which she earned in 1998.

Mumford was elected the treasurer of the Virginia Court Clerks’ Association in 2012 and served in this position for four years while also sitting on the public relations, the convention and the legislative and executive committees as an officer of the association.
