Proposed $18.1 million school budget on its way to adoption

LANCASTER—The Lancaster board of supervisors is expected to adopt a proposed $18,146,340 school budget following a public hearing on Thursday, March 30. By law, the board must wait at least seven days after a public hearing before taking action. The board will hold an adoption session at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13.

As proposed, the school budget for fiscal year 2023-24 includes $11,990,307 in local funding. Superintendent Jessica Davis said the budget would ensure staff will receive a minimum of $15 per hour along with an across-the-board 5% pay raise.

Charlie Costello of Merry Point, the only member of the public to speak, said “I wish we could pay them more to do what they’re doing.” Costello added that he appreciates how the two boards are….
