Senior hitter Sarina Darby was honored as Northern Neck District’s volleyball player of the year last week and Drew Hutt of Washington & Lee was named coach of the year.
Darby and senior teammate Meredith Slaw also were selected to the all-district first team after leading Rappahannock to a second-place regular season finish and the Northern Neck District tournament championship.
The Lady Raiders swept first place Northumberland, 3-0, last Thursday with wins of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-19, in the tournament final. Rappahannock earned a championship berth with a 3-0 sweep of third-place Washington & Lee in a semifinal and the Lady Indians swept fourth-place Colonial Beach, 3-0, in the other semifinal.
