LANCASTER—Gary Silverman of Morattico complained to Lancaster supervisors last Thursday about dogs roaming within the county.
While riding bicycles near Morattico and River roads, his wife and a friend were chased by four to six dogs bearing teeth, said Silverman. The pack appeared to have come from one property.
“We tried to call it in and the first suggestion was just shoot them was what we heard. I’m not going to put a gun in my wife’s hand when she’s riding a bike. The next thing he said was try wasp spray,” said Silverman.
He indicated they were trying to document their concerns and understand the practicality of enforcement. The county has two staff members to address wild and domestic animal complaints.
It could be a serious issue because if someone is bitten, there will be a whole different protocol to follow, said Silverman…
