Drive on Saturday aims to provide supplies to every student in Lancaster schools

Summer is winding to a close, and regardless of what shape school takes in the 2020 fall semester—as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic—one thing is certain:, all schoolchildren and youth will need school supplies to successfully complete classwork, whether physically in class, or virtually at home.

In a community-wide collaboration with the Lancaster County Public Schools, area churches, area media, local businesses and key funding organizations, the Northern Neck Family YMCA is focusing its traditional Bright Beginnings program into a drive to supply approved school supplies to every student in the public schools, reported Mark Favazza, regional director, development, Peninsula YMCA.

YMCA advisory board volunteers Bev Upshur and Mike Bombay, in communication with Dan Russell, Lancaster County Public Schools superintendent, asked, “How can the Y help the schools and your students this fall?”
