The Mathews Outdoor Club (MOC) will host the Wharf to Wharf Swim (W2W) at 10 a.m. August 15 at Williams Wharf on the East River in Mathews County. This one‑mile, open‑water swim honors the memory of the late L. Wayne Hudgins, a Mathews native and Williams Wharf enthusiast.
“This is a unique event for all levels of swimmers,” reported race director Carolyn Quinn. “As a timed open water competition that is local and friendly for novices and experienced swimmers alike, the W2W event is truly special.”
The W2W swim will be held in the calm waters of the East River. Members of the USCG Milford Haven, USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 66 and local paddlers will provide water safety support….
