Carrying on a Christian tradition

Easter, the Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is here. For many it confirms Jesus as the Son of God and signifies redemption and the promise of eternal life. Among related traditions and symbols, the Easter egg has come to symbolize new life and resurrection. A blustery day did not stop children of all ages from grabbing up 700 colorful Easter eggs on Saturday, March 28, prepared by the Women’s Ministry Union of Corrottoman Baptist Church in Ottoman. Jaclyn Binstead teamed up with cousin Ava Chilton to fill her Easter basket. For egg hunts this weekend, see the calendar. Photos by Jackie Nunnery
