Edison W. Bunch Jr.

ASHBURN—Edison White “Eddie” Bunch Jr. passed away at the age of 81 on September 8, 2021, at his retirement home in Ashburn.

Born in 1939 in Edenton, N.C., to Edison and Betty Sue (Cofield), he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Isabelle (DesLauriers); and sons, Christopher (Kathleen) and Tyler (Melissa); and four grandchildren, Bradley, Brandon, Annabelle and Clara. As the oldest of five children, he also leaves behind a sister, Bridgett; and halfbrother, Robert Bickford.

While making Northern Virginia home since 1968, the Northern Neck was a big part of his life for 45 years, having a summer home in Callao for 30 years and a permanent residence for 15 years in Irvington. Eddie moved back to the Northern Virginia area in 2019 to be closer to family.

Eddie was an avid golfer, scoring five holes in one in his career, and was a member of Chantilly National Golf and Country Club in Northern Virginia and Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club in the Northern Neck.

Also an avid car enthusiast, he could be seen cruising around in his Healey and was a former President of Capital Area Austin Healey Club of DC and a member of the Memory Lane Car Club in Kilmarnock.

In 1971, Eddie founded the Alpine Ski Shop, which has grown to two locations and is now run by their two sons. He often stated, “I’ve never worked a day in this business,” as he loved the ski industry and the people involved.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eddie’s name to Parkinson’s research.
