Election 2019: Absentee voting begins

KILMARNOCK—As the November 5 election draws closer, both state and local candidates are entering the final stages of their campaigns for office.

The deadline to register or change an existing voter registration is October 15. Voters can check their registration status at www.elections.virginia.gov, or contact their local voter registrar.

Lancaster voter registrar Susan P. Jett confirmed absentee voting began statewide on September 20.

Those unable to vote in person on Election Day may use one of 20 reasons to vote in-person absentee or by mail.

To vote in-person absentee, no appointment is needed. However, registered voters who vote in-person absentee are subject to the same proof of identification requirements as voting at the polls and they must have a photo identification.
