Coming off a successful indoor season, Lancaster High coach Draper Washington has high hopes for the boys track and field team. He stops just short of saying there’s a state championship in the near future.
“I’m not counting my chickens before they hatch, but we’re in a good position here. What we’ve gotta do is make sure we don’t have any injuries,” said Washington.
Following Lancaster’s opening meet of the season at Rappahannock High School, the boys team had already pre-qualified five individuals for the Class 1 state meet in June.
“To be in the position we’re in, it’s good,” said Washington, who led the indoor boys track and field team to finish third in the Class 1/2 combined state meet, only losing to two Class 2 teams….
