EMMERTON—Tracy L. Churchill, 29, of Farnham has been charged with reckless driving following a horse-pulled buggy involved crash.
At 5:44 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, Virginia State Police (VSP) troopers responded to a crash involving a horse drawn buggy on Historyland Highway approximately 3/10 of a mile west of Folly Neck Road in Richmond County, reported VSP Richmond Division public information officer Sgt. Dylan Davenport.
The investigation indicates the buggy was traveling east in the right lane when it was struck in the rear by an eastbound 2015 Jeep Cherokee. Churchill was driving the Jeep. He was wearing a seatbelt and did not report any injury.
There were two occupants in the one-horse buggy. Both were thrown from the vehicle when it was struck and suffered serious injuries. The buggy was equipped with lights and a placard. At the owner’s request, the horse was humanely euthanized due to the extent of the injuries it suffered in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
