Flight the Flood Program receives VAPDC award

SHACKLEFORDS—The Virginia Association of Planning District Commissions (VAPDC) recently presented the 2025 Robert M. deVoursney Best Practices Award to the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission’s (MPPDC) Fight the Flood Program.

The award recognizes organizations that have initiated innovative regional activities which have contributed significantly to the effectiveness of a region, according to a related VAPDC press release.

The Fight the Flood Program represents a best practice in multi-jurisdictional planning, leveraging local, regional and state resources to maximize impact. Since its inception in 2020, it has successfully connected Middle Peninsula property owners with over $52 million in financial and technical assistance for flood resiliency….
