KILMARNOCK—The Kilmarnock Town Council on Monday, September 17, unanimously (7-0) approved Donald Lee’s request to allow food trucks to park in the public right-of-way at Kilmarnock BrewHaus.

“I’m very pleased with it and I hope it’ll bring more commerce, excitement and enjoyment to the area,” said Lee.

Food trucks will now be permitted to park curbside at 44 West Church Street after 5 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and after 1 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Citizens who spoke at the public hearing on Lee’s application for a conditional use permit expressed support for the presence of food trucks in Kilmarnock, saying it would lead to further economic development.

“I enjoy beer as much as the next guy, a good beer and I must say that I think Don Lee makes the best beer in the Northern Neck and I hope all of you have the opportunity to try it. And as a result, his operation is developing a reputation and a character that I think contributes significantly to the overall character of this wonderful place,” said Carl Smith of Lancaster.

Another Lancaster resident, Roy Carter, said the BrewHaus had already contributed to putting Kilmarnock on the map by attracting people from other counties to the area…
