Ford Daniel “Danny” Haynie

REEDVILLE—Ford Daniel “Danny” Haynie, 81, of Reedville passed away July 26, 2019.

He is survived by his children, Shannon Haynie Hernandez and her husband, Bryan of Mechanicsville and Daniel Clarkston Haynie of Gloucester; and three grandchildren, Joshua Jenkins of Reedville, and Savanna Grace Hernandez and Ashlyn Summer Hernandez of Mechanicsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucious Daniel Haynie and Ruby Haynie and his sister, Ruby Jean Delano.

Danny worked for Omega Protein for over 30 years and it continued to be a very important part of his life. He also worked for the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office for 10 years.

He was selected to be on the Northern Neck Sports Wall of Fame. He helped with the Reedville parades for over 40 years, was the first State Certified Umpire for Little League Ball and was a charter member of the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum.

In 1976, Danny made the Guinness Book of World Records by presenting 112 trophies to coaches, managers and players of Reedville teams being the most ever awarded at one time.

A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 3, at Bethany United Methodist Church, Reedville. A reception will follow the service at Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department, Reedville.
