HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland County Anti-Litter Committee on May 4 will distribute free cargo nets for pickup trucks at the county’s three waste disposal centers in Northumberland.

The nets will be available to county residents, reported committee chairman Mary Martha Stewart. The hours of distribution are from 10 a.m-2 p.m., or until supplies last.

The three waste disposal centers are Lottsburg, 2174 Northumberland Highway; Horse Head, 11705 Northumberland Highway; and Ditchley, 10943 Jessie duPont Memorial Highway. The stretchable cargo nets, purchased with the grant money, will be given to citizens who pledge to cover loads in their large and small trucks, said Stewart.

A Virginia Prevention and Recycling Grant awarded to Northumberland has made this event possible, she said. The county, one of 22, received a grant for its “Cover Your Load” initiative.
