Friday Fun Days are underway from 10:30 a.m.-noon Fridays through August 8, except July 4, at the Steamboat Era Museum (SEM), 156 King Carter Drive, Irvington.
This weekly program for ages 4-10 blends learning with imaginative play through interactive activities, games and crafts, reported education chairman Mary Ann McKay. Participants will discover the fascinating world of steamboats that once sailed up and down the Chesapeake Bay and why they were important to life throughout the region.
McKay invites children to come aboard the pilothouse, turn the wheel and ring the engine room bell. Make a wooden steamboat and watch it sail.
The fee is $5 for children and free for one adult. For reservations, call 438-6888.
