Northumberland Public Library (NPL), 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, recently announced several special events for July.
“Indigenous Perspectives,” an interactive exhibition from the Library of Virginia will be on display during regular library hours through July 19, said library director Jane Blue. This exhibit is generously presented by Amazon with additional support from The Community Foundation, Virginia Humanities and the Anne Carter Robins and Walter R. Robins Jr. Foundation.
The display features an interactive kiosk synthesizing three years of conversations with representatives from the 11 state-recognized tribes in the Commonwealth, said Blue. The exhibit is organized around the themes of sovereignty, environment, identity, community, language and future.
