Friends of Belle Isle State Park will host two-writer weekend 

History, mystery and fun! Join the Friends of Belle Isle State Park for an afternoon of great stories, community and refreshments as the Virginia Writers Series continues In October.

“This month we have two writers to enjoy,” said park manager Katie Shepard. 

On October 21, Rev. Dr. Lonnie H. Lee will discuss his book, A Brief History of Belle Isle Plantation, Lancaster County, Virginia, 1650-1782. On October 22, Virginia author Dean King will discuss his nonfiction adventure books, including his most recent release, Guardians of the Valley.

The program fee is $10 per person and includes coffee, tea and light refreshments. Tickets also include the parking fee and entrance to the displays in the Visitor Center at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster. 

Refreshments will be served at 2 p.m. The lectures begin at 2:30 p.m. followed by….
