Just like the bloom of azaleas and the return of hummingbirds, the annual Historic Garden Week is a sure sign that spring has sprung. Now in its 92nd year, the statewide event hosted by the Garden Club of Virginia featured five homes and gardens of the Crab Point peninsula in White Stone as part of the Northern Neck leg of the tour, which took place on Wednesday, April 30.
According to tour co-chair Maggie Belliel of the Garden Club of the Northern Neck, more than 1,000 tickets were sold to tour the distinctive waterfront properties.
From historic Pop Castle to the waterfront surrounds of the more modern Crab Point, from architecture to horticulture, there truly was something for everyone.
Proceeds from ticket sales go to the restoration of Virginia’s public gardens and landscapes as well as a historic landscape research fellowship program.
