General Assembly adjourns until April 2

RICHMOND—Before adjourning on February 22, the General Assembly passed a number of bills, including amendments to the biennial budget, that Gov. Glenn Youngkin will have 30 days to act upon. The General Assembly will reconvene on April 2 to consider any of the governor’s vetoes or amendments.

The biggest action taken up by lawmakers was the passage of the budget bill with amendments that appealed to both sides of the aisle. Among the changes listed in the Conference Committee Report that could directly affect residents—a one time tax rebate of $200 for individuals and $400 for joint filers and an increase in the standard deduction of $250 for individuals and $500 for joint filers….
