Janet L. Gilbert, M.S., CCC-SLP, recently opened a private practice in Kilmarnock, serving two purposes for people in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.
Located at the Audiology Offices, 45 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, Gilbert is both a speech-language pathologist and a geriatric care manager. Her passion for the last 10 years has been working as a consultant to caregivers, especially those dealing with those with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
As a geriatric care manager, “I work with families to educate them in navigating the care of Alzheimer’s patients,” she said.
Gilbert says she works to improve the quality of life of aging adults and helps to guide the reorganization of family roles, sibling rivalry, end of life care, home care and assisted living care.
