After a months-long going-out-of-business sale and a two-week conversion from Peebles to Gordmans, the Kilmarnock retailer is again liquidating its inventory.
Stage Stores, the Houston-based department store chain behind Palais Royal, Bealls, Gordmans and the former Peebles stores, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on May 10. According to reports, the retailer was considering seeking bankruptcy protection following a disappointing holiday season but was unable to get financing due to a temporary shutdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
