Governor’s School team wins regional robotics competition

The Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School (CBGS) recently placed first in the Navigator division of the Mid-Atlantic Regional MATE ROV competition held at Old Dominion University.

CBGS students Kayla Fones of Essex High School, Carl Hayden of Rappahannock High School and Roman Cutler and William Parker, both of Lancaster High School have been working with teacher mentors Greg Dorsey (physics) and Julia Jones (mathematics) since January to design, build and test their robot to present at the competition. CBGS also won Best Product Demonstration and Marketing Display at the competition.

The Marine Advanced Technology Education organization hosts 31 regional Remote Operated Vehicle competitions around the world.
