KILMARNOCK—Helen M. Jennings, 87, of Kilmarnock passed away on January 25, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Jennings; her daughter, Cathy Jennings Ortiz, son-in-law, Pierre J. Ortiz Jr., her grandson, Peter J. Ortiz, his wife Sharon, her granddaughter, Jennifer O. Duffy, her husband O’Bun, and great-grandchildren, Kayden, Lucas, James, Malia and Kailani. She is also survived by her brother, Carl Taylor, his wife Sybil of Crossville, Tennessee, nephew Ralph D. Jennings, his wife Eva; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was born August 4, 1935, in Crossville, the 10th of 12 children. She met her future husband, Bob Jennings, at her sister’s wedding, when Helen was 15 and Bob was 16. They got married in 1955 and lived in Washington, D.C., Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia.

Helen was an administrative assistant for the Department of Agriculture when she retired. She loved her family, her church family, gardening, going boating and she was an avid basketball and football fan. She was a treasured member of our family and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. February 11 at Kilmarnock United Methodist Church in Kilmarnock. Burial will be private.
