Spring sports at area high schools get under way this week with multiple baseball, softball and soccer scrimmages. Regular season games start next week.
On the diamond, Lancaster’s varsity baseball and softball teams open the season on the road at Mathews Tuesday, March 14, while the JV softball and baseball teams host the Blue Devils at Dream Fields in Kilmarnock. Game time is 5 p.m.
Lancaster’s varsity co-ed soccer team will host King & Queen on Monday, March 13, and both the JV and varsity teams will play against Mathews at LHS on Wednesday, March 15. JV play begins at 5:30 p.m. with varsity starting at 7 p.m.
Lancaster’s track and field team starts competition later this month with its first meet at Middlesex High School on Thursday, March 23, at 4:30 p.m.
