Historic Christ Church to host patriotic events

Jim Russell of the Richard Henry Lee Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, presents the colors during the 2024 public reading of the Declaration of Independence at Historic Christ Church.

The Foundation for Historic Christ Church (FHCC) with the Cobbs Hall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Richard Henry Lee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) invite the community to a public reading of the Declaration of Independence at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 3, inside Historic Christ Church in Weems.

The free event will celebrate the 249th anniversary of the Declaration with patriotic songs for the audience to sing, a brief history of the famous document, and a group of volunteer readers who will read the full text of the Declaration and the names of the 56 people who signed….
