Hosting Seahorses place second and third in recent fleet regatta

The Christchurch School sailing team hosted its first fleet regatta of the season on Saturday, March 22, on the Rappahannock River.

The Seahorses first team placed with 91 points and the school’s second team placed third with 105 points. Hampton Roads Academy finished first.

The “A” Division sailed in the school’s fleet of new 420s, and the B Division sailed in the Jack Dozier FJ Fleet, reported communications assistant Jennifer Horner.

Both fleets were on the water at the same time, with alternating starts. Winds were initially in the high single digits, clocking westerly and climbing to sporty sustained winds in the high teens. Gusts throughout the day, reaching up to 20 mph, challenged the sailors. Temperatures reached….
