The Rappahannock Pistol Rifle Club (RPRC) on Saturday, August 31, conducted a rim fire bench rest rifle match.
Competition requires shooters to fire from a shooting bench where the rifle may be supported at the front and rear at a target placed 100 yards from the shooter, reported competition director Creed Fallin. The match calls for very precise shooting and refined skills by the shooter.
The rifle competition is for rim fire rifles only equipped with a scope, aim point, or iron sights, said Fallin. The target required for the match was an NRA A23-5 which normally is used as a 50-yard target, however to make the match challenging the target is placed 100 yards from the shooter. The match on the Labor Day weekend was very well attended with 16 competitors.
