Hunt History Forum to explore Virginia roots music Sept. 24

Hundreds of Virginians from all walks of life recorded for folklorists and commercial companies in the early 20th century. These traditional musicians laid the groundwork for some of the most important genres of American music including country, blues and gospel.

This fascinating history will be the subject of “Virginia Roots Music with a Taste of the Chesapeake,” the inaugural event in the Foundation for Historic Christ Church’s (FHCC) John H. Hunt II Chesapeake History Forum. The program will be held at 4 p.m. September 24 at Historic Christ Church, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems. 

The forum honors long-time volunteer John H. Hunt II, who served FHCC for 35 years as treasurer, board member and president before his passing in March 2021. The forum’s nod to the Chesapeake celebrates Hunt’s and his wife Page’s love of the Chesapeake Bay and….
