Rising eighth grader Ian Jonson, the son of Eileen Serafin and Urban Jonson of Heathsville, has earned Chesapeake Academy’s C. Jackson Simmons Award for History and English.
This award was established through the C. Jackson Simmons Memorial to recognize a student who has excelled in history and English.
Jonson was recognized during during commencement exercises for the Class of 2022 on June 7.
“Ian Jonson brings a love of content, a desire to learn more, and a willingness to collaborate with others to the U.S. history classroom,” said Marshall Novak, on behalf of the humanities faculty. “He is constantly contributing to the lesson, and his combination of background knowledge and further questions spark curiosity in himself and others. He has embodied our school year theme of pursuing excellence.”
