Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club (ICYCC), 362 Club Drive, Kilmarnock, has been responding to the COVID-19 pandemic by helping with food drives, establishing a member-funded program to assist furloughed employees, and providing members with safe ways to get out and enjoy the fresh air for exercise.
In May, the Healthy Harvest Food Bank, which normally averages 900 pounds of food in an all-day food drive, received 2,343 pounds of food in just five hours.
Two ICYCC employees, Pete and Megan Stephens, volunteered to work the five-hour food drive at the Northern Neck Family YMCA in Kilmarnock. Pete Stephens is the golf course superintendent and Megan Stephens is membership director. They were two of 14 volunteers who worked the food drive in different shifts as nearly 100 cars drove through to donate food in a safe way.
