WHITE STONE—White Stone town manager Patrick Frere tempered his monthly financial report with an explanation. Before council got sticker shock, he explained that a large portion of the $27,951 in August expenditures covered the town’s annual property insurance payment, which increased substantially this year.
“About $15,000 of that is our annual insurance,” Frere told council on September 7. “It’s usually in the $9,000 range, which is what was budgeted.”
However, Frere said the insurance now covers the sewage treatment plant and other town holdings, which increased the replacement value.
“Now I have a better number to budget with next year,” he said.
