Irene V. Buchholz

IRVINGTON—Irene Vitaletti Buchholz, 100, of Irvington died on November 30, 2024.

She was born February 10, 1924, in Peckville, Pa., and grew up in Endicott, N.Y.

Following graduation from Union Endicott High School, she was employed by Endicott Johnson Corporation in West Endicott and ANSCO in Binghamton, N.Y.

She served in the U. S. Navy in Washington, D.C., as a yeoman first class from 1944-1949. In 1979, she retired with 30 years service from the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

She married Edward Walter Buchholz in 1948 in Washington. After residing in the Washington area during their working career, they moved to Reedville in 1984 and later moved to Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury in Irvington. Irene was a volunteer at Rappahannock General Hospital and Historic Christ Church in Irvington.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Edward Walter Buchholz; a brother, Lawrence O. Vitaletti; and a sister, Evelyn Rodick.

Surviving are two nephews, Dr. Gary B. Vitaletti and wife, Meryl of Florida and Robert A. Buchholz of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 5, at Historic Christ Church Burial Ground, Weems.
