Irvington business relief grants announced

IRVINGTON—During a Thursday, December 10, town council meeting, Mayor Albert “Tripp” Bugg announced Irvington has awarded small business relief grants to six businesses.

Recipients include Sewlovelee, Dredge, The Office, Sweet Tea Boutique, Fore-and-Aft and Objects and More. The grants were offered to help businesses cover losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Each business received $1,000. The money came from a CARES Act grant.

Council appropriated $8,344 to Flack Shack, a marketing firm conducting tourism-related promotions for the town, through a Virginia Tourism Grant. Council members Anthony Marchetti moved to appropriate the funds. Dudley Patteson seconded the motion, which passed 4-1-1, with Frances Westbrook and Jackie Brown voting in favor, Wayne Nunnally, against, and Bonnie Schaschek abstaining.
